Muday is a handcrafted basket with lid that is traditionally used as a storage container for small-sized precious jewels or for decorative purposes. This small sized basket is 8" wide, 5.75” long and has a depth of 2.0”(mouth to bottom). It has a height of 4" from the base to the top center of the lid. It can be used for storing small jewelry items such as rings, earrings, and pendants or used for decorative purposes. Its main cream (dried grass) color with teal, yellow, and magenta stripes on the base and lid makes the basket a very attractive household item. The basket is made of dried grass and straw. Basketry is an old craft tradition common to many parts of Ethiopia.The materials used in the construction of traditional basketry include dried grass and straw, bamboo, dried false banana and palm leaves and fibers. Please note that baskets individually handcrafted by artisans in Ethiopia. In contrary to mass production, each basket reflects the artistic character of hand imperfections, and no two baskets are exactly the same.
